Second verse, not same as first…

First of all, I’m just really excited about the musicians who are playing at Give Me Love this year. Cassio Vianna on piano/keys, Wagner Trindade on bass, Brian Jones on saxophone, and the Humlie Trio!!! The music will be pretty splendid! I’m so honored to walk among the likes of these! Now to learn all this Michael Buble, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra music that I have to sing in 3 weeks!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Yesterday I met Clinton Vining, editor of our local paper, the Sheridan Sun. I was interviewed by Dan Crawford, reporter for the Sun, and I really enjoy that guy. He reminded me, by quoting the late Richard Herrick, that “if you do what you love, you’ll never have to work another day in your life!” It was pretty awesome watching Levi being interviewed for his role as Art Director of this incredible project.

It may work out that the Lord’s provision to me at this time might be through teaching guitar lessons. That’s a conversation in progress. We’ll see how it turns out.

Dwelling in John 15:2 today: “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, so that it will be even more fruitful.”

It strikes me bluntly (or sharply? I’m having a McKay moment) that the very first words following the introduction, are the words, “He cuts…”

I’m the vine, this is my father. He’s the gardener. HE CUTS.

That’s what gardeners do. Gardening is tender savagery. For the fruitfulness of the plant and for the harvest of the gardener, everything is removed that hinders growth or limits return. It might not even be a bad thing that has to be cut away. It could even be a good thing. You could be bearing fruit and still have some things cut away to in order that you bear more fruit.

There are two types of cutting described here. One is “He cuts off…” That’s the part where you bear no fruit, and so YOU get cut off. Not what I’d call nice, or sweet, or polite. You are the weakest link…goodbye!

The second cutting is things being cut off of you so you can bear fruit. The word from which we get pruning is also translated “cleaning.”  So He cuts off every branch that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he CLEANS so that it will be more fruitful.

Either you get cut or things get cut off of you, but cutting there will be.

This is my Father. He cuts…

I made a choice that I would rather have things cut off of me than be myself cut off.

Video is done, and Jerry put it on Dropbox for me. I have to download it. Started to do that but couldn’t get it to work for a long time. Last night Jerry told me it’s because I need to download Dropbox onto my laptop and then get it from there instead of trying to download the video from the Dropbox site. So I’ll get that going later this afternoon. I have a meeting coming up in a couple hours and then a concert tonight. I should have it uploaded by the end of the weekend. Sorry for the delay, boss. It’s coming soon, and I think it’s worth the wait. Look forward to see what you think of it.
