On The Phones

10:22am First call of the day was Chris Williams, award-winning winemaker for Brooks Wines of Amity, resident of Sheridan. I asked if he might consider being at Give Me Love and providing our guests with the opportunity to interact with their award-winning winemaker. He’s checking his schedule.

My next pursuit was the use of Coast Hills as a venue for Elizabeth Busch in concert on March 3. We need a yes from three people. So far we have two and third will weigh in later in the week. Elizabeth is one of the finest musicians I know, both in spirit and technique. Don’t get me started on Rasgueado, but I’m confident she’ll leave a few of these lying around…

Third phone call was to Lucy to inquire on insurances and permissions for serving alcohol on the premises of the GML Venue.

Fourth was to John Marr to inquire about getting Sit For A While to play on KKJC-LP, Calvary Chapel’s radio station in Mac. That came at the end of searching out Christian radio stations in Oregon:

Before I call Topher again about the improv sketches for Give Me Love, I should have breakfast…

11:38am Janelle (caterer) had some great ideas about the menu, but first we talked a while about the possibility of some kind of Art/Dance/Drama Consortium in the space that we’re showcasing for GML. That’s about 10 more people to call. First on that list, Kathie Byers…

11:50am left message for Kathie, Darlene checks in to say ticket is print ready. Clayton designed the ticket on Monday night, excellent design!

11:59am called and apologized to Lizzie for missing Christmas lunch. GPS took me to the wrong place, I couldn’t find the address, and there was no cell service up that country road. She chided that I should have asked someone where she lived, and it turns out that had I asked the only person I saw out there, that friendly lady with the dog was her grand-daughter! Instead, I drove frustrated through the rain for an hour before returning home to feel sorry for myself. Self-pity, self-inflicted. Bah-humbug!

1:33pm Sent emails to 2 radio stations looking to get the song on the radio, spoke to Topher on the phone, traded messages with Carol. Topher and Carol and Nichole and myself are meeting at the GML Ballroom at 2:30. Just got off the phone with Stephen regarding the studio days on 1/6, 1/11, and 1/15. Now to call Kohler and see if he’s available to Cello on 1/6 at 6pm…

4:30pm Yes! Kohler is available January 6 at 6. Meeting with Kathie tomorrow am at Slow Train after a sit-down with Richard, who stopped by the venue today with some advice. Clayton called him while I was talking to Topher about Improv for the event. Carol and Mike had some great ideas and I can tell they’re going to be a treasure trove of networking connectivity. Nichole left a couple small bamboo plants in the space to begin some of the air purification that needs to happen. Potted plants make good air cleaners. We could use a few more in there.

Wow! Sounds like a lot of phone calls for a day!

I love Elizabeth’s music; I have two of her CD’s which I often play to lift up my spirit and for relaxation. She is also my inspiration for learning guitar, even when it’s getting nowhere for now :-)

Playing Sit for A While on radio is great! More people need to listen to the song with all the stress especially around this time of the year so they can learn how rest and trust in God.

We’re just getting started. There’s gonna be a ton of phone calls to make in the next few days and then things are going to get really hands-on. Darlene is working on a flyer and then we have to get it to a few strategically chosen church communities to get the ball rolling. We just set up a promotion code for the first 50 buyers to receive $5 off on their purchase: EARLYBIRDGETSTHELOVE. That works for purchasing individual or couples tickets for Give Me Love.

I’ll work on getting that 3000 Bosses button on the front page as you reminded me. I’m practicing “To Find You” for the next 15 minutes…
